A 45-year-old Albanian woman jumped from the window of the hotel room where she was staying. The incident took place in Ioannina, and it is suspected that the cause was the violence that her husband was exercising against her. According to Greek media, the 45-year-old is in hospital with serious, but life-threatening injuries.
She had reported her husband to the police several times for violence. The last time she contacted the police was on February 11.
The police began searching for the abusive husband, while suggesting to the 45-year-old that she install the panic button application on her mobile phone and transfer her to a special facility.
But the woman refused and replied that she would prefer to go stay with her daughters in a hotel in Ioannina.
And so it happened. But today, while she was in the room with the girls, she realized that her husband had found the hotel where they were staying and was at the reception asking to speak to her.
But, according to Greek media, he was so scared that he decided to jump out of the window.
The couple's daughter, who was in the room when the 45-year-old jumped, stated that there was no incident of violence on her father's part, but only threats.
"No, there was no violence, just a threat from my father and my mother was terrified. We all lived together, but nothing had happened and we didn't know anything before. It's a very difficult situation for all of us and my mother is not well," says the 45-year-old's daughter, who is with her mother in the hospital.
For his part, the manager of the hotel where the 45-year-old woman and her daughters were hiding told protothema.gr that the woman was terrified as soon as she learned that the 49-year-old was at the reception looking for her and jumped from the 3rd floor.
"He came here, to the reception and was looking for her, asking about her. We hadn't given him any information, not even over the phone. Apparently he learned about it from a relative. And as soon as the woman realized she had been found, she jumped out the window," he explains.
