
Korça police have caught a 53-year-old man red-handed on the "Kapshticë-Bilisht" road, transporting suspected smuggled goods from Greece.
On the "Kapshticë-Bilisht" road axis, the Police services stopped the vehicle driven by the person with the initials N. J., where during the search of the vehicle, they found various hydrosanitary and electrical equipment.
The value of the smuggled equipment was around 2,000 euros, and it is suspected that the 53-year-old brought it into Albania without completing customs clearance procedures.
The police have seized the smuggled goods, while an investigation has been launched into a customs officer at the Kapshtica checkpoint.
" The specialists of the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section, in continuation of their work to prevent, identify and crack down on criminal activities in the field of smuggling, based on information obtained through operational channels, have cracked a case of smuggling of goods.
On the “Kapshticë-Bilisht” road, the Police services have stopped the vehicle driven by citizen NJ. During the search in the vehicle, they have found various hydrosanitary and electrical equipment, worth around 2000 euros, which it is suspected that this citizen has brought into Albania, without completing customs clearance procedures. Following are the actions in this case:
-citizen NJ, 53 years old, resident of Greece, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of other goods";
-the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office where proceedings were initiated for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", against citizen NB, 64 years old, customs officer at the Kapshtica BCP, as it is suspected that he did not carry out the customs clearance of these goods.
"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further action ," the police announced.
