At least nine expensive cars were stolen from Greek territory by an Albanian citizen, who was driving them to Albania with forged registration data.

According to the Greek media, the vehicles were then sold in our country or in other European countries.

The thefts have already been revealed by the officers of the Border Guard Department of Kristallopygia, although the 31-year-old was arrested in the Follorina area on March 31, 2023, when he tried to export a car from Greece with a forged chassis number.

Together with him, a 43-year-old colleague of Albanian origin had also fallen into the hands of the police. 2510 euros and 37500 Albanian lek were seized from him.

After a month-long investigation by the Greek police in cooperation with the Albanian authorities, it turned out that it was not an isolated incident, but that the 31-year-old was the "leader" of a series of thefts.

In particular, he had stolen a total of nine vehicles worth around €30,000 each, on which he had affixed fake license plates, forged registrations and forged chassis numbers to export to his country, at a total loss to the owners. of 300 thousand euros.

Of the nine vehicles identified so far, seven have been located and seized by the Albanian authorities and the other two are being sought.
