A conflict over weak motives between two drivers turned into a tragic event during the early morning hours of January 20, on the Thumanë-Fushë Krujë road. As a result, 57-year-old Petrit Ndou lost his life, while 28-year-old Andi Vokri was arrested in flagrante delicto for the incident.
According to the police, the young man is suspected of hitting Petrit Ndoun several times with a hammer on the head and body, who died immediately at the scene due to the injuries he sustained. In his testimony given at the police station, Andi Vokri stated that it was a momentary conflict that, according to him, got out of control. He claimed that everything started after a vehicle had blocked his path and he had asked to pass first to avoid an accident, but the other party had refused and had walked parallel.
But this version is strongly opposed by the victim's family.
According to News 24, the victim's wife, Gjystina Ndou, in a long and detailed reaction, states that Petrit Ndou lost his life while trying to save three elderly people who were in danger.
According to her, at around 00:00, she and her husband were returning from a family celebration in Bushnesh. When they arrived near the road where the incident occurred, they noticed two vehicles blocked by another vehicle, which she said belonged to the aggressor. The latter was shouting at them and hitting the vehicles, as their drivers could not clear the way to retreat.
Gjystina Ndou says that Petrit Ndou recognized the people in the vehicles, as they had been together earlier in the evening, and got out of the car to help them. At that moment, he saw the aggressor hitting the passenger of one of the cars, Nikoll Aliaj and Lula Aliaj, both elderly people. Petrit addressed the aggressor with the words: “They are elderly, what are you doing, aren’t you embarrassed?”, trying to stop the violence and closing the door of the vehicle to protect the passenger.
According to the family, the aggressor continued with insults and attempted to continue the violence, while Petrit Ndou directed the other two vehicles to back off and enter a curve, leading them to a safe place, where they remained until the end of the incident.
After this moment, according to the wife's testimony, two other people got out of Andi Vokri's vehicle to confront Petrit Ndou. Gjystina Ndou tried to stop them, but the aggressor continued the fight, approaching the victim's car again, taking the vehicle keys, hitting the vehicle and pushing it himself.
Frightened, Mrs. Ndou begged her husband to leave and hide, as there were three aggressors and there was a fear that they might return with weapons or strong tools. The couple hid for a few minutes and notified the police, as well as family members who were nearby.
Then, thinking that the aggressors had left, Petrit Ndou returned only to see his vehicle. A little later, family members arrived at the scene, and according to testimony, the perpetrators hit Petrit Ndou from behind on the head with a hammer, causing his instant death.
