The Serious Crimes Court in France has sentenced 27-year-old Liridon Berisha to life in prison.
The Albanian killed his partner Stephanie Di Vincenzo in May 2021.
Stephanie was only 22 years old when she was stabbed in the middle of the street while trying to escape by seeking help from the Hayange police station, just a few meters from her apartment.
The Attorney General, Nicolas Burkel, described the act as 'out of all normality in terms of violence'.
"Neither the presence of witnesses nor that of the girl prevented him from continuing the act. He hit her to weaken her and then inflicted humiliating blows on her body," he said.
The macabre scene took place in front of the couple's 4-year-old child, while neighbors witnessed the extreme violence.
Berisha had also been sentenced to a year in prison for several traffic violations. He had benefited from a reduced sentence and was placed under house arrest, where he was fitted with an electronic bracelet a few days before the serious incident.
