Several people have been arrested in connection with the execution of Gëzim Sinomat in Vlora.
Yesterday, RENEA landed with numerous controls in the city of Vlora after there were suspicions that the killers of Gëzim Sinomat are hiding inside the city.
The investigations are focused more on the past of Sokol Sinomati's father.
During the last 24 hours, dozens of places and spaces, warehouses and abandoned houses were searched that were suspected to be hidden together with the car that left the scene, but they have not been located.
It is learned that by observing a significant number of security cameras, the investigators were able to secure some valuable information, which it is hoped will serve in the investigations, but the sources are reserved to provide concrete details.
The victim Gëzim Sinomati has never been investigated inside or outside the country for criminal activity and this localizes the investigation more to the events of the past, where his father, Sokol Sinomati, was involved. The latter is in prison and has another 3 years and 2 months left to serve. Otherwise known by the nickname "buzederr", former member of the Gaxhai gang during the 1997 riots, left Albania in 2017, was arrested in 2021 in Belgium, on drug charges. At the end of 2022, he was extradited to Tirana, for an event in 2002 in Skela, where Elton Tato was killed and Robert Boraku was injured.
Gëzim Sinomati was killed by a sniper's bullet in the head on the evening of January 7, as he had just stepped out onto the balcony of his house in the "Hajro Çakërri" neighborhood in Vlora. The aggressors 5 minutes later burned the car, in which a concrete block was found in the back seat, which allegedly served as a holder for the crime weapon. Parked at a distance of no more than 40 m from the building where Iru Gëzim Sinomati lived, the sniper had a field of view of the target. In the area, in the "Hajro Çakerri" neighborhood at that time around 10:00 p.m., the power went out and it was completely dark for 10 minutes. So far, the police have not found either the cartridge or the crime weapon, but they have collected about 50 security cameras.
