A murder that happened 14 years ago in the city of Kardhica in Greece, has led to the arrest of a person from Tepelena, whose name is Dritan Haxha, but in Albania he is known by the nickname "Thano".
His handcuffing was carried out two days ago, after the Tirana court approved the security measure "arrest in prison", requested by a prosecutor of the capital.
The 43-year-old was filed by the criminal police as a person who was involved in the cultivation and trade of drugs, for 14 consecutive years his name has never appeared on the scene for the murder of the Albanian, Andon Veshaj.
According to the journalist of "Ora News", Elton Qyno, the murder took place in May 2010 in Greece, where the motive was the robbery of Andon Veshaj, who managed to get three checks with a financial value of 50 thousand euros each.
For this serious crime in Greece, in 2010, Besim Besimaj, Dritan Hoxha's accomplice, was identified and arrested, who has already been convicted and is serving a life sentence in the prison of Patras, for the murder of Andon Veshaj, robbery with weapons, violent theft, drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, for Dritan Hoxha alias "Thano", in 2014 the Court of Larisa issued an arrest warrant with a security measure of "arrest in prison". The red color of the data on Dritan Hoxha was also made at the Interpol Central Office, but it was not possible to arrest him.
But informed about the identification of "Thanos", on October 2, 2017, Skënder Veshaj, who is the uncle of the victim Andon Veshaj, appeared at the Gjirokastra police and filed a report.
He told the police that on May 17, 2010, in the town of Karadita, which is located in the province of Larissa in Greece, Andon Veshaj, who is his nephew (brother's son), was found dead in his vehicle.
According to the uncle, Veshaj was in Greece as an economic immigrant since 1991.
In his report, Skënder Veshaj explained that in the early hours of the morning of May 17, 2010, the victim Andon was in a cafe in the city of Kardhiča, a city in which he lived with his family.
After leaving the cafe on the way to his apartment, he was stopped by Besim Besimaj, who is from the district of Vlora, and Dritan Hoxha, who is from the village of Levan in Tepelena.
Both of these persons have exercised physical violence against Andon Veshaj by hitting him with their feet and hands in different parts of the body, where the goal was to rob the Chechens, which Dritan Hoxha had seen when he was in the night club.
As a result of the violence against Andon Veshaj, he received serious injuries on his head and other parts of his body. As a result of the blows carried out by these people, Veshaj lost his life.
After performing these actions, Besim Besimaj and Dritan Hoxha put the victim Andon in his vehicle and moved the vehicle to an uninhabited place in order to hide the crime.
Meanwhile, a day later on May 18, 2010, the vehicle was found by passers-by and the victim Andon Veshaj was also found inside it./Oranews
