Remzi Azemi, a citizen of Kosovo, was arrested by the police of North Macedonia, after he was wanted for the murder of the Albanian Ilir Hidri.
Azemi was suspected of the murder that occurred in June 2017 in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. As the Ecuadorian newspaper El Universo reports today, during the investigative process, evidence was collected that proves Azem's connection with this crime.
The Kosovar was on the wanted list by INTERPOL.
Ecuadorian authorities had issued an international arrest warrant against him in 2021.
The Ecuadorian police announced that the investigative work carried out with Interpol has enabled the capture of Remzi Azemi.
"The arrested person is awaiting the formal extradition process ," said the Ecuadorian police.
We recall that the murder of Ilir Hidri in 2007 happened for the destruction of drug deals in Ecuador. 40-year-old Ilir Hidri was executed in Ecuador on June 1, 2017.

Hidri was a police infiltrator in the cocaine trafficking network from Latin America to Europe and Albania.
The 40-year-old had exchanged information with the police of several countries about a large amount of cocaine that would come to Europe.
