Other details regarding the tragedy that happened in the early hours of this morning on the Këlcyre-Përmet axis, where 7 immigrants from third countries and the Albanian driver lost their lives.
It is reported that the car was rented by a person, already identified by the police, and then given to the driver who is suspected to be from Shkodra.
The police have escorted the person who rented the vehicle to the police station and are interrogating him, while investigations are still ongoing for the full disclosure of the circumstances of the accident and the identification of the victims.
It is initially suspected that the accident occurred as a result of the high speed with which Sokol Ismeti was traveling, after he spotted the police and was trying to escape them.
"Around 04:00, on the road axis Këlcyrë-Përmet, near the village of Kuqar, it is suspected that as a result of the loss of control over the driving of the vehicle by the driver, the Benz type vehicle left the road and fell on the side of the Vjosë river .
As a result of leaving the road, 8 citizens lost their lives. (7 citizens are suspected to be from third countries and the driver of the vehicle from Shkodra)
At the scene is the investigative group which, under the direction of the Prosecutor, is working to clarify the circumstances and the cause of the accident.
Also at the scene are the Local Director of Police, the Director of the Border Department, the Director of the Traffic Police and the Director of Public Order.
There are also two groups of the National Security Force at the scene.
