A suspected weapons base has been discovered in Tirana, while a 66-year-old woman has been arrested and her son has been declared wanted by the police.
The operation codenamed "Picalla", conducted by the Tirana Police in the village of Picallë, led to the raid on an environment that was suspected of serving to supply criminal groups with weapons and ammunition. According to the authorities, the suspected owner of this base is citizen Oltjan Qershori, 41 years old, who is currently wanted.
During the search of the apartment, the police seized a considerable arsenal of weapons and dangerous materials. Among them were: 9 firearms (5 automatics, 1 rifle and 3 pistols), 1 shotgun, silencer, uniforms and equipment similar to those of the Police, around 900 live ammunition, incendiary fuses and detonator caps.
In the same environment, officers also discovered uniforms and equipment similar to those of the police, raising suspicions about their possible use in criminal activities.
As part of the operation, citizen MH, 66 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto, while investigations continue to capture her son and fully uncover the suspected criminal activity.
Meanwhile, the seized weapons and materials will undergo expertise at the Institute of Scientific Police to verify whether they have been used in previous criminal events.
