
Adriatik Onjea, former director of Community Services at the Municipality of Gjirokastra, was arrested by police at the Kakavija Border Crossing Point, as he was entering the territory of Albania from Greece.
The Gjirokastra Court had imposed the security measure "prison arrest" on Onjea in absentia, in connection with the incident that occurred on March 3, when an employee fell from the second floor of a private building while carrying out cleaning work on the facility.
Onjea is accused of abuse of office and tampering with evidence.
After the incident, Onjea left Albania and, according to reports, was staying in Ioannina (Greece), while he was declared wanted after the court imposed a security measure.
The incident for which Onja is accused occurred in the "Zinxhira" neighborhood in the city of Gjirokastra, where the community services employee fell from the second floor of a private building while carrying out cleaning work on the facility, which had been seized by the bank.
As a result of the fall, he suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to the Trauma Hospital, where he could not survive his injuries and died on March 10.
In connection with the incident, the State Police arrested three people, accused of the criminal offense of "violation of occupational safety regulations"
The court has also imposed the security measure "prison arrest" for the two technical officers, citizens PC and AB, while for citizen AL, with the position of brigadier, the measure "house arrest" has been imposed.
