Photographer and artist Blerta Kambo has been announced as a finalist for the Circa Prize, a prestigious contemporary art award for young artists, organized by Circa Art (Cultural Institute of Contemporary Radical Arts) in Great Britain.
Blerta has been selected by a group of curators, along with 29 other artists, as finalists, in an open competition with participation from all over the world. This is the first time that an Albanian is a finalist for the Circa Prize.
Her video "Heavy Stone"/"Heavy Stone" was shown on September 3 on the big screens of Piccadilly Circus in London.
The video was also shown in Berlin and in Milan, at the same local time of 20:23.
Blerta's video deals with the topic of emigration in a poetic way as video art.
It competes for two prizes: one decided by the jury (which consists of some of the most established names in contemporary art) and one voted by the public.
