The popularity of Ben Blushi's book is not related to its provocation, but to its literary value. While readers have welcomed it, a group of dogmatic critics is attacking the author with the same model that was once used against Kadare. These voices ignore the function of fiction in literature and the broad tradition of Middle Eastern authors, creating a dangerous climate that resembles examples of cultural extremism.
The popularity of Ben Blushi's latest book "I am a Muslim" did not come as a result of the controversial topic that Blushi always brings, not hiding his provocation towards the reader. It came naturally, because Ben Blushi is today the best modern writer of Albania, who enriches the Albanian literary anthology with the current affairs of our society. The first factor of this success is the talent of the writer. The Albanian reader, like any reader in the world, is the most accurate evaluator of this reality.
It is no coincidence that the most read historical figures among Albanians are important literary figures, such as Jeronim de Rada, Ndre Mjeda, Gjergj Fishta, Naim Frashëri, Fan Noli, Migjeni, Sterjo Spase, Jakov Xoxa, Petro Marko, Ismail Kadare and Dritëro Agolli. Most of these authors published in difficult conditions and in difficult times, but the Albanian reader absorbed their messages. This has happened everywhere. The Latin American masters who brought extraordinary freshness and magic to world literature were first and foremost luminaries for their peoples, who lived in poverty and with high illiteracy.
Literature is not an operation that you can postpone with difficulty. It is the alpha of communication in the history of humanity. Today we have an inflation of poets and novelists who count dozens of publications, but no one reads them. But that is another topic.
To return to Ben Blushi, the reaction of critics to his work was expected, but not so mocking and so low. “Të jetosh në ishloh”, Blushi’s first sensational novel, was accompanied by a literary review of a high standard, although critical. Its author was Ervin Hatibi, a promising poet of the late 80s, who later ceased his intensive activity in Albanian literature. Hatibi, as a practicing Muslim, based his criticism of Blushi not on literary logic or style, but on the “thread of Arjanë”, on religion. However, the level of debate remained acceptable. While later, and especially today, Blushi’s critics metaphorically resemble Kadare’s mythical critic, Razi Ibrahimi.
Razi Ibrahimi was pedantic and didactic in his critical narrative of Kadare, but that criticism was perceived by the public as sophisticated and focused on what in socialist realism were called “ideological errors.” So according to that approach, Kadare was a master of art, but did not respect ideological lines.
It is precisely along these lines that a series of fanatical "intellectuals" are operating today who attack Ben Blushi. According to them, Blushi does not tell the truth, but invents, and, for this reason, according to them, he does not create literature. These jihadist rascals do not know the essence of a writer. A writer can not only invent, but can also delirium, exaggerate, exaggerate and imagine.
Poets and writers, throughout human history, have spoken with their imagination. Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey" have so many fabrications and exaggerations that they still fascinate every reader today. Man was created as a being with free will, as the sacred books also mention. His mind is the greatest asset.
These jihadist rascals do not even consider the long tradition of writers and poets of the Islamic world, who have enchanted humanity with their stories. From "One Thousand and One Nights" to the poems of Saadi and Rumi, Middle Eastern literature is considered even more magical and fictional than that of magical realism, because it focuses attention on dreams, on the soul and on the sublime feelings of man, where love is at the center.
These rascals who shamelessly say that Migjeni or Fan Noli are not poets, but revolutionaries, are ready to elevate to a pedestal not the 19th century bejtexhins, who were craftsmen and artisans, but some bar-boys who weave poetry the way the Taliban assemble homemade bombs that they carry on their bodies to blow up.
The worst thing is that this series of aggressive reviewers is blatantly ignored by the normal part of criticism or by the Albanian literary community. They should understand that this jihadist approach to literature is more dangerous than the political organization of these groups. This is how Talibanism began, condemning to death Salman Rushdie and Khaled Hosseini, who emerged from a Muslim society and succeeded precisely by describing it. / Pamphlet

E dua Ben Blushin. E dua, se eshte qytetar, se eshte intelektual, se eshte patriot, se eshte shkrimtar, se eshte opozitar, se eshte enderrimtar, se eshte i ndjeshem, se eshte perparimtar, se ka vizion, se eshte familiar, se eshte atdhetar. E dua, se eshte shqiptar i madh.
Libri i Ben Blushit "Jam musliman" nuk është një libër i zakonshëm. Përveç linjës artistike, më i rëndësishëm është mesazhi që ai përcjell: Shqiptar, kujdes nga feja islame, nuk ka asgjë pozitive, atè e sollën pushtuesit për të përligjur pushtimin e tyre por edhe për të mbajtur një popull të nënshtruar. Është një libër ibotuar në kohën dhe në vendin e duhur. Shëndet dhe jetë të gjatë autorit.

Ne shpesh here harrojme, se kemi qene depo njerezore e ushtrise nizame, dhe keta nizame kane lyer duart me gjak dhe jashte Shqiperise. Ne harrojme, ose nuk shikojme, ose nuk duam te flasim, kur shikojme turkoshaket shqiptare, te shkaterrojne memmorien historike te shqiptareve, perkatesine e tyre, kulturen e tyre, kontributin e tyre, zakonet e tyre dhe mbi te gjitha fene e te pareve. Kur kthen koken dhe shikon si turkoarabet pseudoshqiptare, sa per te cituar, kane shkaterruar Selenicen, Onufrin, Shpatarakun apo Zografin e kupton qarte genin e tyre turkoislamik. Kur shikon, qe hedhin ne ere kryqe, apo nuk lene vendosjen e bustit te Nene Terezes, apo i vene bisht statujes se Gjergjit te Madh, apo mbajn peng Kishen e Shen Stefanit, apo i vene dinamit Kishave, apo i vjedhin ato etj etj, kupton se çfare antishqiptaresh jane, kupton se jane ku e ku me te eger dhe armiq, se "armiqte" tane shekullore. Nuk jam mysliman. As dua te jem dhe askurre nuk do te jem.

Nuk e di pse ky haleja i halese Ilir Meta promovohet e i ngrihet ne qiell antivlera e tij. Me e keqja eshte se i ze vendin ndonje parlamentari te ndershem ne Kuvendin e Popullit. Ky qen bir qeni duket qe eshte i shitur te ruset e serbet. Kapeni per bythe e hidheni jashte plehren llafazane.
