On February 20, the vast majority of DP deputies, together with some opposition allies, will go to the square to protest. This political action comes with a different spirit after almost 3 years of conflict within the Democratic Party. Luciano Boçi sees this union of the democrats as a recognition of the vote and the statute of this party. He emphasized tonight in "Opinion" that Sali Berisha is the chairman of the DP for most of the deputies.
-On what basis was this union made? On what principles, on what agreement? Will this internal fusion work because 3 years of collision can take 30 years to recover. Sometimes the damage is so great that recovery is much more difficult, what will be the concrete action?
Luciano Boç i: On the basis of a political project that must have a political force and we must know very well that the division was not ideological. Such separations are final. They were matters of different attitudes and perceptions. In the discourse, it has been like this because in the political action, the creation of the opposition has been a product of both groups, and it has even been emphasized during the last months. It is an ongoing process regardless of attitudes, because we wanted to align the attitudes and reconcile them. He clearly stated that there are deputies who have different opinions that are discussed, but they know the fact of the vote and the DP statute.
- Does this mean that Berisha has already been accepted by the rest?
Luciano Boçi : Mr. Sali Berisha is also known, but also the Assembly of December 11, which has been somewhat disputed because the emergence of Mr. Berisha as president is a product of this Assembly. The electoral process arose from the statutory changes. The product of this union is not just February 20, it is a station.
-What about Valentine's Day, did you agree?
Luciano Boçi: It was before Valentine's Day, at the vigil.
On the other hand, deputy Ervin Salianji says that his position on not recognizing Berisha as head of the largest opposition party does not change. But he adds that the moment has come for the democrats to unite and that this protest is only the first step of this process.
Ervin Salianji : This is not the final step of unifying the opposition, it is the first step not only to peace, but also to go further. To take it to the people who have been carrying the burden of the opposition for years. If it were up to me, Sali Berisha would not be the leader of the opposition, but it is against my will. The political class in Albania must be renewed. I do not change from my beliefs, but the moment is to be together, that even if we had strong ideological divisions, at the moment there is an agreement and is finding great support in public opinion, I do not believe that there is anyone in Albania who do not think that all the institutions in this country have been subjected to the will of an individual.
