Edi Rama

On the 24th anniversary of the liberation of Kosovo, Prime Minister Edi Rama made a direct appeal to Albin Kurti, saying that today is the day to reflect deeply and to get out of this impasse where the absurd quarrel with the allies has led him.

" Like today and almost a quarter of a century ago, NATO's entry into Kosovo reminds everyone that without the strategic allies of the Albanians, good friends in the worst days, there would be neither the Republic of Kosovo nor freedom and democracy for Albanians in Kosovo! God bless our allies! Therefore, today is the day to reflect deeply and to get Kosovo out of the dead end where the absurd quarrel with the allies has brought it! "Kosovo must definitely get out of the impasse with dialogue not with the police, with concrete ideas not with propaganda, with good friends not with mistreatment of friends ," writes Rama.

24 years ago, 50,000 NATO soldiers were deployed in Kosovo, and with them the temporary administration of the United Nations. On June 12, 1999, after 78 days of bombing by the American-led Western Military Alliance against Serbian-Montenegrin military targets in Kosovo in Serbia and Montenegro, NATO troops entered Kosovo in the peacekeeping mission that would be called KFOR , ending the almost two-year war between the insurgent Albanian population organized in the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the occupying Serbian-Montenegrin military and police forces.
