The Organizational Secretary of the Democratic Party, Klevis Balliu, has accused Prime Minister Rama and the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, of being responsible for the high pollution of the capital, which is killing people.
The Democratic Party has commented on the findings of the European Environment Agency, that due to pollution, more than 3000 people have lost their lives, only in Tirana.
"For years, PD has denounced the concreting of Tirana, through the corruption of the Mayor Erion Veliaj.
For years we have denounced the destruction and crumbling of the economy as a result of the laundering of drug money in the concrete of Erjon Veliaj, but today Veliaj's abusiveness and greed are killing Albanian citizens with the extraordinary pollution that has been proven under his rule as the head of the municipality of Tirana .
His boss, Edi Rama, as a fundamental shareholder in this national crime, just like his tool, defended Veliaj's abuses by declaring that Tirana is the cleanest and least polluted city in Europe.
The European Environment Agency states differently, according to it, 3,000 deaths occur in Albania per year as a result of pollution. 85% of them occur in Tirana and Veliaj.
According to their study, the particles that stay in the air but penetrate the blood vessels of the citizens of Tirana reduce life expectancy by 185 days to 188 days.
These particles, which are emitted from the burning of fuels, cause serious diseases such as cancer, cerebral hemorrhage, etc.
We must understand that 54% of deaths are caused by vascular diseases.
The permissible rate of these particles in the city should not exceed 5 micrograms per cubic meter according to WHO.
Today, not from the opposition, but from the former deputy of the SP, professor Besnik Bare, currently a member of the Academy of Sciences, declares that after the study and measurements carried out by him in Tirana, the WHO norm is exceeded several times, reaching from 33.6 micro grams per cubic meter to 92.6 micrograms per cubic meter, so about 19 times more.
Despite this dramatic situation, the National Environment Agency or the Institute of Public Health do not monitor air quality because the truth would harm the government and limit monetary benefits at the expense of citizens.
Clearly, the lives of citizens do not matter before the monetary benefits of Veliaj and Rama.
Clearly, the lives of children of citizens do not matter in the face of the hundreds of millions of euros of profits of Rama and Veliaj.
Here we are in the framework of a national crime, it can even be called a state murder, for which the DP demands that the competent bodies of justice immediately start investigations to save the lives of Albanian citizens.
The pockets of the rulers cannot be more important than the lives of the citizens" , said Balliu in his statement.
