Democratic deputy Albana Vokshi called on the government not to pass the draft law that forces medical students to work for 5 years in our country with an accelerated procedure. Vokshi said that the opposition is ready for discussions, but if the draft law does not pass with an accelerated procedure, they should consult with students and doctors, as well as the opposition to give their proposals.
Vokshi said that the government cannot blame the failure of the health system on the students.
"Have you seen the conditions of health centers, hospitals, in a catastrophic state. That's why they don't go there, that bonus doesn't attract them, because there are no conditions, tools, equipment. The deputy minister told us that the quality of service has improved. I want to remind the minister, I don't know if she has read a BIRN report. In March, he made a report on why doctors leave, he took the case of the hospital in Burrel, there was no gynecologist in the hospital, there was no anesthesiologist. It was time to give birth, there was no anesthetist. He was born without anesthesia and lost his three children. She got pregnant again, there was no gynecologist and anesthesiologist in the hospital. It will fail and why it will fail. You are violating the security principle, he signed another agreement with you, not this one. He entered with other conditions, that after finishing the university, he would graduate, they may have applied in other countries. You are crushing all dreams, brutally and criminally their desires, plans for life. You want to hold 5 years of their life hostage. Why do you want to blame all the failures in health on the students? It is a spectacular failure. Starting on Friday with the hearing of the students, we cannot forcefully decide on the future of young people.
We are ready to sit down for a long-term strategy, to keep the doctors, so that the money does not go to secret contracts and in pandemic conditions. We are also open to this draft law, don't go through it with an accelerated procedure, let's have consultations, give our proposals, let the student have his say, but also the Albanian citizens to receive the health service that they have not received until today . Such measures will want us to withdraw and open discussions, take the right time and arrive at a draft law that we can also vote on. It is an invitation that we extend to the majority, we only ask for time and discussions ," said Vokshi.
