Is "Foltorja2" failing Sali Berisha?

Berisha declared that 'Foltorja2' will end its mission when Edi Rama is ousted from the Prime Minister's seat, even though it is clear that with such a large turnout, which may be decreasing, it is impossible for it to exert pressure to force the Head of Government to step down...

The Democratic Party and its allies have held two 'Speakers' in the last two weeks, a way of protesting against what they consider to be the closure of their spaces in Parliament.

Berisha announced the holding of 'Poltore' (Squares) under Edi Rama's office, but from the first two rallies, what has attracted the most attention is the lack of participation, or rather a very low interest even from the militants and supporters of the DP.

The two rallies held in two weeks in the format of "parliamentary-citizen rostrum" delivered the same messages that Berisha or his deputies say every day, from the DP headquarters to media statements or parliamentary structures.

Perhaps these are the reasons why 'Foltorja2' is failing to attract or absorb even the real supporters of the opposition. In other words, this idea or form of protest is not catching on, it is not igniting that spark that perhaps Berisha himself knows.

And when it fails to 'ignite' in this situation when scandals and crises are being denounced, when the majority itself is involved in a vortex and is confused, it means that the crisis of citizens' trust is even greater.

It is enough to look at the two rallies of 'Foltoresa2'. It has not managed to absorb even a single new name, which, by using the microphone, can convey a message different from those repeated by the deputies or the leader of the DP.

Berisha declared that 'Foltorja2' will end its mission when Edi Rama is ousted from the Prime Minister's seat, even though it is clear that with such a large turnout, which may be decreasing, it is impossible for it to exert pressure to force the Head of Government to leave.

If there were a high turnout and enthusiasm, 'Foltorja2' could serve both to ignite popular revolts and to reform the DP's own structures. It could lead to more radical movements, even within the Parliament hall.

But these scenarios seem to be failing. The lack of participation does not create any kind of pressure on Edi Rama, just as the lack of new voices does not give any hope for what Berisha is persistently seeking after May 11: the opening of the Democratic Party.

When he launched Foltoret in September 2021 in the confrontation he had with Lulzim Basha at that time, Berisha exploited the anger of the democrat base against the leadership of the DP, managing to eliminate the party structures that were controlled by Basha or his people. And this gave him the advantage in relation to Basha. At that time, Berisha talked about the bargains that Rama had with Basha, declaring that he could overthrow Ed Prime Minister within 6 months.

While today he is under suspicion, even from those on his side, that he is making deals with Edi Rama, but there is also the thesis that he can overthrow him from the Prime Minister's chair.

The May 11 elections dealt him the hardest blow, despite the thesis that the process was a farce. Berisha recorded the most exemplary defeat on May 11, much deeper than any previous result of the DP, in at least the last two decades, which can be translated today into a loss of trust even by those who fill the halls of the democratic leader in the first pulpit. /Pamphlet/
