Alfred Peza refuses to report to the Media Commission, Zhupa: An unprecedented

Deputy Ina Zhupa has published an e-mail in which the presence of the General Director of RTSH, Alfred Peza, in the hearing session at the Media Commission is rejected.

According to her, the rejection of Peza is an unprecedented act.

"A hearing requested by me and approved by the entire commission regarding the dismissals and the use of public funds at the Albanian Radio Television has been rejected by email with the claim that they are not controlled by us. Today at 13:00 there will be a commission session where Peza refuses to participate.

The General Director of RTSH bears the constitutional and legal obligation to report to the parliamentary media committee on matters of his activity, whenever this is requested by the committee. Alfred Peza's refusal to report to the Parliament constitutes a serious violation of Article 80 of the Constitution and Articles 36 and 102 of the Rules of the Assembly.

The violation in this particular case is even more flagrant because the gentleman in question is a former deputy and former member of the Media Commission, which means that he is fully aware of the legal obligation and intentionally violates the law," writes Zhupa.

She further clarifies that Peza has been summoned to a hearing on the RTSH budget as well as on layoffs that cause financial damage to the state.

"Both issues for which the committee was requested are related to the state budget, and the RTSH budget is approved precisely by the Media Commission and the Parliament of Albania. The layoffs are related to law enforcement and the financial costs that come from lost lawsuits for unfair layoffs such as those made by director Peza. While the funds come from the budget they request and are approved by our parliamentary committee. Peza gives the same answer to the Governing Council, in an act of arrogance and lack of recognition of the hierarchy within the institution.

The parliamentary committee cannot disrespect itself and be trampled by Peza, I call on the colleagues of the majority to take measures for this unprecedented case and in violation of the constitution and regulations", writes Zhupa in her reaction.
