Prime Minister Edi Rama has made the deputies anxious. In the SP Assembly held online, Rama declared that the scheme for determining the list of candidates for deputies in the 2025 elections will be changed. This means that many of the current deputies may leave.
The Prime Minister announced that the new scheme will be presented at the Congress on July 20, as he said that it will be more extensive than that of 4 years ago, where the "Deputy we want" platform was launched. Rama gave signals to the MPs to use the time they have left to secure a place on the list of candidates.
" At the Congress, we will also present the new platform for the selection of SP deputies, starting from the experience of the past elections where, as you understand, we created for the first time a platform called the Deputy We Want and gathered a significant number for the sake of truth, expression of interest to be part of the selection of SP deputies. Some of those young people who appeared on that platform also became part of the lists. But in the next elections the platform will be broader and will foresee a more articulated process and it is good to give ourselves the time needed by the Congress until the moment when the final selection of the list of candidates for deputies will be made " , he said.
If we go back 4 years ago, Rama made a deep purge in the ranks of deputies. In the 2021 election lists, the prime minister left out 25 deputies. Some names were given up and others were simply excluded.
Eglantina Gjermeni and Vasilika Hysi were among the first to announce their departure from the SP. Likewise, Gramoz Ruçi left after being elected deputy. Another name removed was Musa Ulqini, who was withdrawn after he was placed in an unsafe area in the Elbasan area. Another name was also Ditmir Bushati. Shkodra was the region where there was a real storm because Senida Mesi and Luan Harusha also fled. Another name that was left out was Almira Xhembulla. Also, other names that fled were: Adnor Shameti, Adelina Rista, Xhevit Bushaj, Anduel Djindi, Anastas Angjeli, Arben Kamami, Besnik Baraj, Vilma Bello, Andrea Marto, Edmond Leka and Fatmir Velaj.
