The criminal amnesty vote seems to have deepened the rift between the two parts of the Democratic Party. PD Vice President Flutura Açka explained that the amnesty process was not only non-transparent, but basically the law, by pardoning the persons convicted by the special court, was a coup against the parliament.
"It was literally an undermining of what we have been talking about for so long and fighting for so long. To amnesty, without giving the first results to SPAK, to bring amendments that affect the work of SPAK, this not only for us as MPs as a whole but especially for the opposition is a big minus in front of the Albanians, that's how I've seen it ", Açka said.
The resolution approved by the democrats led by Lulzim Basha, in addition to support for SPAK, also included electoral reform and the importance of open lists, the national proportional system and the diaspora vote for DP. But the vice-president Açka repeated that the PD is not part of the working group tasked with the implementation of this reform.
"It seems to me that with this platform, it's like passing the parliament in a shack, in a shack where it's not elegant for any of us. And it is this table with 6 votes to decide the fate of the electoral reform, for the future elections, it seems to me that something has collapsed in the body of this so-called parliament of Albania", said Açka.
In this situation, for Mrs. Açka, a coalition with the democrats led by Sali Berisha is almost impossible.
"We have made our red lines very clear, and they became clear on September 9, 2021 and we cannot change and we have stuck to this in principle. The issue is what will be done by the other side, which for two years has only been attacking this part of the PD, which has made it clear to Albanians that we cannot compromise on the issue of non-women", added Açka in an interview for Vizion Plus. .
