The head of the "Report" program on "Rai 3", Sigfrido Ranucci, has spoken again about the clash with the Albanian government and the reasons why the second part of the documentary about Albania was not broadcast.
In a conference with foreign journalists, asked by the Albanian journalist of "Syri TV" Alba Kepi, Ranucci emphasized that within this month the second part of this report about Albania will be broadcast.
He said that the reason for withdrawing from the broadcast is because they are working to bring an even deeper investigation.
- Have you been censored by the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama?
Ranucci: No censorship and during these days I have tried to respond to the high interest of the Albanian public on social networks. No censorship.
- Why wasn't the continuation of the investigative report on Albania broadcast?
Ranucci: We are working to return with other materials more in-depth in the necessary analysis respecting the television time. We respected some other investigations that have priority, since we almost entered the electoral campaign of the European elections and we must respect and see the political development. Albania punta will be given regularly very soon. We had no pressure. Many have criticized us and Prime Minister Meloni herself, who called our report "a lynching of the Albanian people".
I want to reiterate, no lynching even as the polls in Albania proved, 84% of the Albanian public thinks that the facts of this report are true. What I regret is how an Italian Prime Minister does not have faith in a public television of the Italian state. Within the month we will broadcast the next episode of Report on Albania
- Will you do a TV interview with the Albanian KM under the conditions he requested, live and not edited?
Ranucci: the interview with the Albanian CM will be respected as the head of a government and as everyone who is interviewed by Report is respected. If he accepts, the interview will respect the format of the Report, his opinion will be conveyed as he expresses it, integrally and we will not cut it.
-How do you comment on Rama's accusations that your investigation is false, on the General Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, are not true?
Ranucci: We have Agac's answers, they are as he conveyed them to us. We do the work and we have not made accusations but we have brought the context of everything. We have not hit in general, but we have given names and surnames of politicians involved in corruption events. Transparency International has documented Albania as a country involved in serious corruption events.
-A comment from you as a journalist, why and how do you see the defense that Prime Minister Meloni gave to her Albanian counterpart?
Ranucci: I see it as solidarity between the prime ministers, just as we journalists have with each other.
