Thumanë-Kashar toll highway, Berisha: How Rama is discriminating against

The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted again about the Thumanë-Kashar highway, while he has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama.

During his speech to the citizens, Berisha said that through toll roads, Rama imposed the tax of national hatred against the inhabitants of the north.

According to Berisha, the northern counties are the poorest counties in Europe and that their poverty, unlike that of all Albanians, deepened in a terrible way during the 11 years of Rama's government.

"A powerful protest has erupted in Thumana because, in the first 20 kilometers of roads that were built in 11 years from Fushë Kruja and above, 80 thousand residents of Kruja, like in no other case in the territory of Albania, are punished.

The road that is built on their land is prohibited. They are excluded from the market, their businesses are destroyed. As if the road belonged to a conqueror with which he decides to punish the conquered.

More than 11,000 km of roads were built in Albania before, the roads were inclusive, they never excluded, they never punished. Because they are built for the community they pass through and necessarily for the community as well. So look my friends, the first 20 km of road that this government built from Fushë Kruja to Vermosh and Valbona, turns them into punishment for 80 thousand inhabitants.

Not only that, but in these 20 km for 500 thousand inhabitants of the 4 northern districts, he imposes a tax on them to enter and leave Tirana. Don't forget one thing. In the northern districts, the income is over 50% less per capita than in the districts of central and southern Albania. The northern counties are the poorest counties in Europe, and their poverty, like that of all Albanians, deepened in a frightening way these 11 years. But if in the whole of Albania it deepened by 100%, in the northern districts it deepened by 250-300 percent.

Today, a resident from these counties, to come to Tirana, to solve a problem or to meet a family member, or a health and other problem, must pay 15 euros to and fro from Tropoja, at a time when he can received a total of 40 euros of economic assistance, can receive a pension of 100 euros.

At a time when no other Albanian from Kakavija to Fushë Krujë pays a single penny, despite the fact that highway A passes through the tunnels. Despite the fact that from Kakavija to Tirana it passes on completely reconstructed roads, they do not pay any.

As for those from the north, he must pay 15 euros to come from Tropoja, Hasi, Kukësi to Tirana and return. Isn't this an unconstitutional discrimination that no country in the world would impose. Isn't this a tribute to the national hatred of Edi Rama towards the inhabitants of the north", said Berisha.
