The spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Mirela Karabina, has responded to MP Saimir Korreshi, who stated that Lulzim Basha is not the chairman of the Democratic Party after the Council canceled the elections.
Addressing the PD deputy, Karabina said that the process is legitimate and everything has been done in accordance with the party's statute.
"The Democratic Party has entered the phase of reorganization, with the election of the president, and has started an unstoppable journey towards an alternative government for Albanians. Since the first meeting of the Presidency after the election of the president, it has been decided that the assembly will be held on September 2 and the political agenda of the DP will be determined. In the Assembly, the re-election of PD bodies will begin, starting with the Council, which will decide on the presidency of the PD, as well as the branches. The reconstruction will be done so that we have completed the reorganization of the DP during September and October", said Karabina for Report TV.
Krabina said that the parliamentary group cannot go beyond the Presidency's decisions, which must be implemented.
"The group cannot go beyond the decisions of the Party Presidency, which is a decision-making body. If the Presidency has decided that there will be an election process, there is no discussion about this. I don't know where Korreshi bases this that this process will not be called. As everything is in conformity with the PD statute", she said.
As for the meeting of the National Council, Karabina says that there was not one, and even adds that the members were informed that the meeting would be held, but then no link was sent to them to participate in the online meeting.
"We have only heard, we have not seen anything, I do not know that there was a meeting. We were not offered the link to enter and become part of the online national council. It is about a council that no longer exists when we met before September 9. Those who initiated it must take a clear political stance, why did it happen two days before the process of meeting the mayor, there was a full month, but never the Council of July, since we have two Assemblies in December, which exclude each other". Karabina pointed out.
After the election of Basha as chairman, Karabina said that PD is in the process of reorganization.
