The crisis in the Democratic Party is getting deeper as the group of deputies of Gazment Bardhi do not recognize the process of electing the chairman in the Democratic Party, which re-elected Lulzim Basha for a fourth term.
Democratic deputy Saimir Korreshi has stated that Basha is not the president of DP, since the National Council canceled the elections.
"You made it a fait accompli, will the court certify it or not? While the council has made a decision to cancel these elections, we do not know that any chairman has been elected. I also went there yesterday in my neighborhood for the head of the Democratic Party, some 17,000 people from Lushnja voted, we will also make a request to the court", said Korreshi for Report TV.
Korreshi said that they have become ridiculous in the eyes of the democrats, while he said that he does not understand how the elections are held when the PD has no structures, since 41 branch heads have left. The MP goes on to say that Basha took a vacation for 11 months and now returns in August and does the work.
"We have become ridiculous among the Democrats. How can you accept a thing, you have seen any greeting, greeting any embassy. You say to be inherited, with such processes. I have a process, I gather 30 people and become the chairman, 16 thousand are written in the verbal process. 41 heads of branches have left, how can you make elections when you don't have structures", Korreshi said.
Since Bardhi's group has taken the Council's decision to cancel the meetings to the court, Korreshi said that he believes that the Court will not register Basha as chairman.
"Deputies have requested that the Democrats have a unified process. Why is the group of deputies neither for Berisha nor for Basha leaders, because they were the bone of contention for the division of the democrats. They have shown in these two years how much they have had a big fight with each other and how much they have deepened the division between the democrats. Since we have taken the decisions to the court, we think that Basha will not be registered as chairman, let's make a process where all the democrats participate", stressed the democratic deputy.
We remember that Korreshi was one of the MPs who contested the elections in the DP.
