The Democratic Party continues to be in crisis as even for the extraordinary elections that will be held for the municipality of Kukës, they did not run with a single candidate, but were divided into two parts.
Proposed as a candidate for the "Primaries" of Kukës by the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the head of the DP, Lulzim Basha Arif Rexhmati has spoken out against this process, saying that it promotes more division than unites the democrats.
Rexhmati, who is the head of the Democratic Party of Kukës, says that the democrats should find a comprehensive and consensual candidate and not deal with the primaries process that brings dissatisfaction and division.

Dear Democrats,
First of all, I want to express the highest consideration for the membership of PD Kuka. I feel deeply humbled by your appreciation and trust in proposing me as a candidate for the extraordinary elections for the Kukes Municipality.
My gratitude goes to all of the democrats who, with untold sacrifices, have stood and stand against the immorality and anti-values that have been unjustly imposed on Kukës and Kuksians. I express my deepest appreciation and thanks to everyone who has sincerely invested in an inclusive and inclusive process for a consensual candidate, including Kukës County MPs, Mr. Flamur Hoxha and Mr. Isuf Cela.
In the situation DP is going through, I have expressed my willingness to be part of a joint election, which would lead to the representation with a single resident candidate in Kukes according to the request of the Kukes democrats.
Although I support the principle of competition, I judge, like many Democrats, that entering into a primary process when there is only a month left from the elections and when the internal situation of the Democrats continues to suffer the consequences of conflict and blame, with all the good intentions in itself, does not serve the consolidation of the structures and their readiness for the campaign. Post-voting disputes create division and not unity of the membership, while the reliability of the process not only does not guarantee unity, but can be a source of conflict during and after the process, with irreparable damage to the election result.
Putting the interests of the democrats and all Kukësian families first, I repeat my appeal and that of many democrats in Kukës to identify a resident candidate in Kukës, comprehensive, consensual, unifying with the sole purpose of victory over the candidate of renaissance and the oligarchs of Rama.
