The democratic leader's statements come at a time when Gazment Bardhi, the chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, had declared that this process does not serve the party and could increase clashes within the DP.
"There is a risk of creating further instability in the DP, so it must be a careful process, as it must take into account the need that the DP has for new arrivals outside the party structure. In principle, the fact that the vote of the party member is decided is a very positive development, but care must be taken that this democratization process within the party does not turn into anarchy, or into a process that destabilizes the party, because at this moment we need stability and the unity of every factor and member of the party in every branch, just as we also need an openness that is not always ensured through an internal process within the party," Bardhi declared a few days ago.
But between Berisha's firm statement and Bardhi's almost pleading request, the former will certainly prevail, especially when he treats it as an issue sanctioned in the statute.
Who is at risk from the primary process in the Democratic Party?

The clearest example was provided by the elections in branch 2 of the Democratic Party, held about a week ago. The incumbent president, who lost and contested the process, perhaps rightly, 4 years ago, when the clashes between Sali Berisha and Lulzim Basha began, signed the form for the meeting of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party against the former prime minister, even signing a form that literally emphasized the "non grata" sanction.
Despite the fact that she later appeared as a supporter of Berisha, even participating in every rally under his balcony, she lost in the internal party elections.
And based on this case, it is understood that with a primary process, all those who Berisha no longer wants to have around will be at risk.
Those who will vote in the primaries are the same ones who supported Berisha from the moment he took the podium, who filled the stadium on December 11, 2021, or who on December 18 went to the referendum that confirmed him as Mayor.
Those who stood by him from the first moment and who are in the parliamentary group today can be counted on the fingers of one hand, while others who were once with Basha and later identified as Bardhi supporters must do their calculations, or hope that the "invisible hand" can change the voting result for some.
And referring to the composition of the Parliamentary Group, those who may be at risk from the primaries are Andia Ulliri and Kreshnik Çollaku, to Merita Bakiu, Orjela Nebiaj, Eralda Bano, Agron Gjekmarkaj, Bledion Nallbati, Dashnor Sulaj, Dhurata Çupi, Emilja Koliqi, Ferdinand Xhaferaj Flamur Hoxha, Helidon Bushati, Ilda Dhori Jorida Tabaku, Lefter Geshtenja, Petrit Doda, Qani Xhafa, Ramadan Likaj, Sajmir Koreshi, Xhelal Mziu and Zheni Gjergji.
