The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated that his party branches have received instructions to monitor the headquarters of the Socialist Party throughout the country.
He accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of attacking the DP headquarters and warned of consequences.
In a press conference, Berisha spoke about the February 20 protest and the clashes with the police. He condemned the intervention of the blue uniforms and the reaction towards the young participants.
"Then, I salute the heroes of the revolt. I condemn with the greatest strength the police mistreatment that was done to the young people, who were the energy, courage and true face of the protest. I condemn with the greatest strength the attack on the DP headquarters and I warn Edi Rama to stop any attack on the headquarters because the response may be what he does not expect," Berisha told the media.
Berisha underlined that the DP branches have received orders to monitor all SP headquarters in the regions and districts.
"The DP branches have received orders to reconnoiter all SP headquarters in the regions and districts, and I warn you once again because you have seen it, the attack in the most absurd way was focused on the headquarters," he declared.
Berisha said that police officers, whom he labels a group of bandits in uniform, fired at the blue headquarters during the February 20 protest.
"A group of bandits in uniform were positioned there, shooting with all their might at the headquarters and a group of protesters who were on the street in front of the headquarters. What were they doing? What threat did those standing in front of their headquarters pose? In fact, the headquarters were being attacked. And I say it again, Edi Rama guarantees you that to save his skin, he would want us to burn down the SP headquarters five times where it is. But it will not happen when he wants. I guarantee this," Berisha said.
He made the first threat on February 21, the day after the protest, in a live communication on social media.
"I guarantee Edi Rama that he will be responsible for all of this. But in their escalation yesterday, in an act of unrestrained hatred, large amounts of tear gas and smoke bombs were thrown into the courtyard of the DP headquarters. This constitutes an open aggression against the DP headquarters and pluralism. On this occasion, I ask all branches to conduct a full reconnaissance of the SP headquarters in every district. And I guarantee Edi Rama that attacks on the DP headquarters will bring annihilating attacks on the headquarters of the criminal party throughout the country", said Berisha.
