Berisha under "pressure"/ From burning mandates to the councils of

The three ideas circulating in the DP regarding the strategy to be followed in relation to the Assembly

The Democratic Party and its allies in the 'Greater Albania Alliance' coalition have publicly declared that they do not recognize the results of the May 11 elections, where the opposition led by Sali Berisha failed to win more than 50 parliamentary seats, registering one of the weakest results in 35 years of pluralism.

Berisha has continued to denounce what he considers an electoral farce, while no one can say what stance the opposition will take in relation to the Assembly.

Everyone claims that the decision will be made in September, a time when the launch of an analysis of the election loss has also been announced, and perhaps in the coming months there may be a reorganization of this party.

And as September approaches, ideas have begun to be articulated about what the Democrats should do, whether or not they should enter the Assembly, whether or not they should burn their mandates, what strategy they should follow, in relation to a super-majority, which is on the verge of a majority that, with a little effort for a fluid alliance, could even change the Constitution.

One of the theses circulating in the DP headquarters, and supported by a group of members of the National Council, who failed to obtain a mandate as an MP even though they were on the list, is the burning of mandates. Despite being considered a group without any specific weight in the DP, they are articulating the extreme idea that was applied by the same party under the leadership of Lulzim Basha and brought quite a few consequences for the Democrats, especially in relation to internationals.

If Berisha were to support this group, which includes names that see the democratic leader as the only alternative, it would be revealed regarding the position he held, at least publicly, when he declared that the decision to burn the mandates in 2019 was Lulzim Basha's and not his.

The second idea circulating is a conditional relationship with the Assembly, i.e. establishing a relationship where opposition MPs can boycott the proceedings for months, but without going to the limits of burning mandates. This strategy was also applied by Lulzim Basha and has not yielded any results, although it is now hoped that relations have changed, especially with the Trump administration.

The third idea circulating is that of an opposition that should denounce, but also block the Assembly, alternating action with occasional protests. This strategy has also been applied before, even including cases when tensions in the Assembly reached their peak with the use of flares or smoke bombs, and which were then followed by several weeks to months of exclusion of opposition MPs.

While it is reported that the advice that the Democrats have received from internationals, especially from the European People's Party, is to participate in the Assembly and find the right instruments to achieve political goals. It is learned that the Democrats have been asked not to pursue strategies that could distort the political field.

And while the Assembly is expected to officially convene, perhaps within the first 10 days of September, what is certain so far is that the 50 deputies of the DP and its allies will enter the Assembly and be sworn in, receiving their mandates.  /Pamphlet/
