Sali Berisha has started contesting the election results. Nearly 2 hours after the closing of the polling stations, the leader of the DP appeared at a press conference, where he did not talk about victory, but about the growth of the DP in its strongholds. He then accused the SP of having agreed with the gangs to embezzle votes.
" Operational data from all over the country show that in the traditional areas of the center-right there is a significant increase in the electorate and the results are expected in line with this increase with real optimism. But I am here before you to declare that the sovereign has spoken. The vote is in the hands of the commissioners, with the greatest responsibility. In Durrës, the gangs of Poja and Troplini have flooded towards the CEAZs with the order from Edi Rama that they can influence the result. This is not only in Durrës, but they are more active, they have been denounced, both by the media and by the DP and in other areas Edi Rama has chosen a kind of pressure towards the CEAZs ", he said.
Afterwards, Berisha had a message for the commissioners, making it clear that they should not be bought off and fall prey to pressure.
" Now, my firm message to all our commissioners in the CEAZ, in the counting commissions, to implement the law, the law and only the law. No vote can and should not be counted under pressure. I guarantee all the gangs that the government of the Alliance for a Greater Albania will declare those terrorist groups and will receive the most maximum punishments as such. I understand that they are in their last lurch and believe that they can influence the will of the sovereign. Nothing can change. The people have spoken decisively ," he said.
He was asked by journalists whether the DP won or not, but he deflected: " I am waiting for the sovereign. I am here to present to you what is happening. Throughout the day, we have been documenting with full responsibility the illegal efforts in all four corners of the country, but sending gangs to surround the CEAZ is an attempt to influence the result, but this will not happen because our commissioners have taken measures. The responsibility for this lies with Edi Rama ."
