The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, appeared this Monday at the premises of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), within the framework of the implementation of the security measure "compulsory appearance".
At the entrance to the institution, he was greeted by several Democratic supporters, with whom he greeted before entering the building.
After leaving SPAK, Berisha spoke to the media and made public the message he said he had left at the institution.
"To Altin Hajri, Gjoka, Troplini and Rama (this man has many surnames), the fierce enemy of political pluralism and the free vote of Albanians, justice delays, but does not forget. Sali Berisha," he declared.
During his statement to journalists, Berisha defended his critical stances towards SPAK leader Altin Dumani, describing them as justified.
According to him, the Special Prosecution Office has not acted properly in cases of electoral crime. Berisha claimed that out of 48 files reviewed, only one has resulted in penalties, while emphasizing that the problems of the electoral process have also been highlighted in reports and assessments by international organizations.
He stated that the criticisms of Altin Dumani and the former head of SPAK, Arben Kraja, are related to the way the election files in Dibër and Durrës were handled, accusing them of a biased stance towards the opposition vote.
"A true monster of the free vote of Albanian citizens, which the Constitution obliges to investigate electoral crime. And today I have the obligation to inform you that out of 48 files reviewed, they have penalized only one."
Meanwhile, the electoral farce has already been universally confirmed by the OSCE/ODIHR that observed the elections, by the deputies of the Council of Europe, by the deputies of the European Parliament, by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament and IBAR. So, with hundreds of facts and documents presented by the opposition, but all of these for the enemies of the free vote are nothing or do not exist. Once again, I repeat, my deserved attacks on Altin Troplini and his predecessor, the State Security executioner, Kraja, have been linked first and foremost and above all to their stance on the famous election files in Dibër and Durrës. With that act they blatantly demonstrated their hostility towards the vote of the opposition people", he said.
Meanwhile, SPAK has named Berisha as a defendant in the privatization file of the former “Partizani” sports complex. According to the indictment, he is suspected of having influenced legal and sub-legal decisions to favor his son-in-law in the privatization process, indirectly benefiting from this favoritism. Berisha and the people involved have consistently denied the accusations, describing them as politically motivated.
