The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, has spoken about the bonus of 5,000 lek that the government has granted to pensioners for the end-of-year holidays.
Through a post on social networks, Tabaku states that even though we have been hearing the government brag about the increase in income all year, pensioners are always the last in the account, they are always the last to be in solidarity, they are always the last in the case of expenses.
Tabaku emphasizes that the month of December for pensioners is not the month of holidays, but of austerity.
"We have all year heard the government brag and brag about the increase in income, highlighting 2023 as the best year of the economy, with the highest income and investment.
What is happening in December? While we have the highest prices, the 30% increase in the prices of basket products, the bonus for pensioners of 5 thousand lek is the absolute lowest. Is this abundance of government propaganda reflected on pensioners' tables? What can a pensioner buy with 160 ALL per day? What can be bought with 5 thousand ALL per month? How can a pensioner who, in addition to the increase in the price of bread, sugar and rice, the price of medicine, public transport, and the hardship of living, be able to spend the last night of the year with dignity? It is the December of holidays, but for pensioners it has turned into the December of austerity.
Pensioners are always the last in the account, they are always the last to be in solidarity, they are always the last in the case of expenses. From the increase in pensions, to indexing for inflation to the end of the year holiday, it shows how much pensioners are worth to the Albanian government, less than this currency", writes Tabaku.
