Basha demands changes in the Criminal Code: MPs who slander should be punished
Lulzim Basha

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, has submitted a draft law to the Assembly, through which he requests changes to the Criminal Code.

Specifically, the chief democrat Basha demands that in article 120 of the Penal Code, MPs be added as well. With these changes, Basha demands that if a legislator makes a statement to a member of parliament, the latter has the right to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office and if the courts prove that the statement is defamation, the member of parliament risks a fine of up to 2 years in prison.

"When this act is committed by elected officials, during the exercise of their mandate, in the parliamentary sessions of the Assembly, or in any other form, it constitutes a criminal offense and is punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to two years," the draft law states. proposed by Basha.

This proposal of Lulzim Basha comes after the accusations that Gazment Bardhi made against him, saying that he has benefited from two floors in the 'Lion' residence in Tirana. This fierce clash between the two former close associates happened on October 5 in the Parliament, while Basha accused Bardhi of becoming part of the Berisha-Rama towers alliance.
