The lack of meritocracy after a contribution made over the years to the Freedom Party, but also the failure of this force to openly support the country's integration into the EU, were two of the fundamental reasons for leaving that party.
This is what Faik Basha said today, on Report TV's 'Studio Live', as he told the audience about the reasons that pushed him towards leaving and joining the SP in this campaign.
He also made an analysis of the factors that prompted his departure, explaining that it came after careful consideration and consultation with his supporters, both inside and outside the party.
"As I have made clear in my status about the reasons why I left a political force, for the sake of the truth regarding my commitment, it was that political force, formerly the LSI and today the PL, that makes efforts for Albania's membership in the EU, where we all have an obligation to give the best possible of ourselves for a better, safer and more advanced country. But that citizens want politics that turn their eyes towards it and not towards them. I had great battles and growth in that force that I represented, I also ran in a district for deputy where we came out as the first force with the LSI. I also maintained my positions on all directives and points, even in 2023, in Kamëz mainly. Not everything came in a day, or within a day, but after a deep analysis and consultation with the people and the thought was to leave that party and to protect their causes, representation and voice, for their troubles and concerns ", says Basha.
And here comes the main cause, the lack of meritocracy in the selection of the list of candidates for MPs, introducing names into the lists that neither represented experience nor covered certain fields, such as security, but where there was also an obvious meritocracy.
"On March 11, I also made a communication to the media, for the team that was preparing for May 11. I said that today the victory is determined, when the team puts the players on the field, it is not determined because on the day the match starts, the players are not put on the field, but the fans, that's how you can't win the Champions League in football. I have had a request for an unrepresented area since 1912 and today, there has been concern. There are no real experts in the security fields on the list, they have not been given space. When the doors are closed, you have to find new alternatives to represent those people who support you. A lack of meritocracy is noticeable ," continues the former PL member.
And faced with two solutions, he chose to continue the battle outside the PL and join another force, that is, return to where he and his family had joined many years ago.
"I had two choices, either to withdraw or to continue representing these people. The disappointments in politics are great, I thought about withdrawing, but then I consulted with people. They told me that you should not withdraw from politics, but if someone closes the door to you and does not give you a chance, you should find other solutions. The analysis I have done is that I should be active in this campaign. I think that Albania's path to EU membership is a priority and it should be done. When you see it like that, it doesn't mean anything, but from the inside it matters, Albania 2030 is important, also because of geopolitics, Europe has become aware of this ," Basha explains.
But was PL ready to do this work, towards this mission?
"Albania's mission in the EU is not that of the Socialist Party, but of the entire country, of all forces, with a strong team and squad. A strong squad is not with untested people, people without experience. I have for the party I was part of, for the Freedom Party, people without experience, who have not contributed," he emphasizes.
That's why he claims that he joined the Socialist Party precisely for the main priority, which is Albania in the EU in 2030, as it is a greater interest than the party's.
