The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, said during the presentation of the annual report to the KLP that impunity by the Special Prosecution Office is being put to an end.
He emphasized that the law is acting against every person, regardless of how much power they hold, as well as against organized crime.
Dumani said that the justice institution is young, only 5 years old, making a metaphorical comparison of a child who at this age is still in preschool and has not gone to first grade. But he added that the results are seen, although modest, where impunity is ending.
Dumani also stated that he is now awaiting final decisions on these files and that the first results have already begun to come with these final verdicts from the Courts.
The head of SPAK also emphasized the fact of sequestrations and confiscations, assets that are transferred to the state budget and distributed to institutions or public services, recalling that 1.8 million euros were collected in one year from the rents for these confiscated objects alone.
"If you compare the time of operation of SPAK, only 5 years, the same as a child who has not yet entered school, preschool or kindergarten. But five years is not a little. The institution has demonstrated that in these 5 years it is professionally capable of carrying out criminal prosecution against any person, regardless of who they are, regardless of their power, economic and legal, or whether they are a high-ranking subject of organized crime. So the blow from the law works for anyone.
To have an institution where the evidence is important and not the name that is hidden. I am not talking about success, but modest in the sense of putting an end to the culture of impunity. We definitely expect our decision-making to be followed by final decisions from all levels. The first results have started to come, we have some final decisions for high-level, medium-level and low-level officials, as we also have for prosecutors, judges, police officers, etc. We have confiscations, we have strikes against organized crime and their leaders at high levels. There is diversification of confiscated or seized assets, so only rent was received 1.8 million euros in just one year from the seized or confiscated assets. The confiscated assets that will be distributed are 21 million euros, where the main contribution is from SPAK.
"So in 5 years the institution has had good performance, modest results. How do I see the future? With the maturity it has gained, it is able to continue and increase its performance in the field ," said Dumani.
