The chairperson of the Commission for European Affairs, Jorida Tabaku, was involved in a debate with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, during the commission's meeting.
Today, the draft law "On the Budget of 2025", foreseen for the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, for the process of membership in the European Union, was examined in principle.
Tabaku said that the ambassadors have participated in Rama's electoral meetings.
Minister Hasani emphasized that such meetings were not electoral but for a meeting of the Prime Minister with the diaspora.
Tabaku: Does the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have a comment regarding the involvement of ambassadors in the electoral campaign and in the electoral process of Prime Minister Edi Rama?
Hasani: We are not in an electoral campaign, it opens later, there is no party or political activity. There have been meetings of the Prime Minister with representatives of the diaspora, in the countries of the EU or the USA and England, but no slogans, posters or political jokes and appeals have been used. There were meetings with the diaspora, about the future, Europe, progress and good things for Albanians. For no moment has there been any talk of part of the party program. They have accompanied the prime minister and have an obligation as ambassadors. We are not in an electoral campaign. You know better than I that the campaign opens much later. Secondly, for no moment there was a party or political meeting, but there were meetings of the Prime Minister with representatives of the diaspora in important cities around the world. Let's not misinterpret any moment.
Tabaku: Representatives of the diplomatic corps should not participate in those meetings.
Hasani: Can you come too? Come on too.
Tabaku: There is a goal that must not be crossed. Diplomatic representatives cannot participate in party activities. The goal is exceeded when talking about the opponent for 25 minutes.
