Democratic Party MP Tomor Alizoti accused Prime Minister Edi Rama from the Parliament podium of using funds for luxury trips, linking these to deficiencies in the healthcare system.
Alizoti specifically referred to trips to attend basketball matches abroad, while contrasting them with the situation in public hospitals, including Oncology and Pediatrics.
He also raised the issue of the Minister of Health's absence from Parliament to respond to interpellations, linking this to a lack of accountability to citizens.
"Before the Prime Minister watches matches in luxurious stadiums in Italy and around the world, he should go to the Oncology Department, the children's hospitals and the miserable situation in which Albania is. The Minister of Health has been here for months and months and does not deign to come and respond to her citizens. A person who has a sick person at home is not only sick, but the whole family. Because cancer is a very serious disease.
But the Prime Minister of Albania and his ministers get on a plane and watch a match, it's difficult. The Speaker of the Assembly leads the Assembly of the Republic and this is a very important position, so lead this Parliament as it is led. This is not the yard of the SP. No MP of the position is excluded, they cannot be angels and these others devils", he added to Alizoti.
