The deputy of the Democratic Party, Asllan Dogjani, spoke out against the gambling law, while listing some of the reasons why he was skeptical.
He said in the Laws Committee that he had welcomed Rama's initiative in 2013 to close gambling, which according to him brought him to power.
He also said that with this bill it will be possible to play online bets in every house. He said, among other things, that the consequences will be extraordinary.
"One of the strongest weapons that Rama came to power with was the closing of casinos and cafes that were used for gambling. To tell you the truth, I have evaluated it as a very important initiative, since the social wounds, from those games of chance in 2013, had created problems in Albanian society. He went so far as to tell the Albanian mothers that; "We will bring the men's wages home to you." I appreciated it as a very good initiative, since the consequences were extraordinary, the number of murders, thefts, debts, quarrels increased, but these games of chance continued until 2018. Until 2018 they were discontinued. But after this year, it turns out that 4,000 individuals or companies have worked illegally. But what changed that you are trying to open online betting? Doesn't youth destroy these bets? We also had a study from the University of Tirana on the wounds that these bets have left on young people. Until yesterday, these bets were physically, even at the door of the palace. Today you have introduced them to every door, in every Albanian family through the phone. From the bed, from the bedroom, from the kitchen, every citizen can bet through the phone. You took it from the street and brought it into the house. This government has failed to prevent this phenomenon.", he said.
