Member of the Democratic Party Presidency, Bislim Ahmetaj, has revealed details of the intense debates held within the DP's leadership structures.
He said that the clash with Secretary General Flamur Noka is related to the need for change and regaining trust within the party. According to him, Flamur Noka "has lost credibility" and the perception of the role of the Secretary General is not positive among a large part of the membership.
"The Secretary General is a very heavy burden and requires an open, coherent and inclusive figure," Ahmetaj emphasized to "A2 CNN".
Ahmetaj praised the gesture of Deputy Mayor Agron Gjekmarkaj, who proposed his resignation as a civic and institutional act, but which, according to him, was not accepted or even seriously discussed.
"The party does not recognize the institution of resignation, while this act releases positive energy and creates trust in hundreds of thousands of democrats," he said.
Another strong point of the debate in the chair was the issue of the Ombudsman.
"They consider this an accessory, it is a very important institution from the name and from the work. Why it has never done its job is another story, because no one does any work here, but if it does its job, the Ombudsman is an extraordinary reference for internationals, it is an extraordinary reference for citizens," said Ahmetaj.
