Due to the events in Kosovo, the elections for the mayor of Kukes were canceled this Sunday, especially the result that was announced yesterday. The Socialists won, even more deeply than with Safet Gjicin on May 14, the protagonist of the video scandal that brought new elections to this municipality in the northeast of the country. The Democratic Party did not participate in the elections, while the only one from the opposition was the candidate of Sali Berishen who registered again with Ilir Meta's Party.
Former prefect Albert Halilaj received over 4,000 more votes than Safet Gjici. But how is this victory vote read after every scandal of the Socialists?
This issue was discussed in the Debate by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN Flutura Açka, the vice-president of the DP, who at the same time delegated Lulzim Basha the head of the group, but the Assembly has not yet given a solution.
Açka said that the result of Kukës came as a result of Berisha's continuous refusal to cooperate with the institutional party.
" The result in Kukës is very regrettable, even though it was an expected result. May 14 is enough for us to say that we cannot continue with this kind of logic. On the DP side, the invitation was until the last minute to come up with a joint candidate. We even broke the "pledge" we had given not to withdraw from any kind of election, so as not to harm the only candidate of the opposition. Berisha's continued refusal to cooperate with the institutional party produced the result it did. The loss is even deeper than May 14. I don't know what's going on in the Pulpit camp, but I feel a great deal of concern if no conclusions come out of this. We are nowhere as we have lost in a right bastion" , said Flutura Açka.
