The Deputy of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi and the Chairperson of the Integration Commission Jorida Tabaku met today with the co-rapporteurs of the Council of Europe for Albania. In one of his posts, Bardhi said that he shared his concern for the need to strengthen the fight against corruption, the completion of the Electoral Reform in order to guarantee free and fair elections, the strengthening of parliamentary mechanisms for government accountability and the initiative taken to made the opposition in Parliament functional.
"We welcomed today the rapporteurs for Albania at the Council of Europe, Mr. Asim Mollazada and Mr. Jonut Stroe, with whom you shared your concern about the need to strengthen the fight against corruption, the completion of the Electoral Reform in order to guarantee free and fair elections, as and strengthening parliamentary mechanisms for Government accountability. We thanked them for their position in the precursor report which emphasized that all democracies need a well-functioning opposition that provides the proper system of checks and balances on power. In response to the call in their October 2022 report for the Democratic Party to overcome internal disputes and play its important role in the governance of the country, involving all parties,I informed them about the efforts to make the opposition functional in the Parliament and to overcome the internal party conflict, through the construction of a common opposition agenda", said Bardhi.
In a separate meeting, Sali Berisha also hosted the delegation of reporters of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe consisting of Asim Mollazada, Jonut Stroe, Bas Klein and Giulia Re, head of the KiE office in Albania.
According to Rithemelimin's press release, Berisha requested the help of KiE and the justice system, which according to him is paralyzed.
"Those who set up this system can no longer intervene to repair it because they are 'shareholders in failure.' The democratic president asked the delegation of KiE to mediate for an intervention of the Venice Commission for a review of the justice reform in Albania. This reform was politically motivated", emphasized Berisha.
But the fact that there is no meeting of Basha's huggers with reporters stands out. It seems that Bardhi and Berisha have thrown out the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.
