The Socialist Party has finally amnestied Ilir Meta as far as his connections with the State Security are concerned.
A year ago, it was widely trumpeted that he had been a spy, and the law was even changed to declassify the Security files. Then the SP filed several initiatives to remove spies from politics. It was even proposed that they should not even be party leaders.
In July, changes to these laws were put on the agenda. But the SP postponed them until the fall, as the EU asked for more studies. The Assembly has published the new work calendar and it is noticeable that the initiatives proposed by Taulant Balla have been postponed indefinitely. There is no date when they will be reviewed.
The draft laws foresee changes in the law "On guaranteeing the integrity of persons who are elected, appointed or exercise public functions", known as the decriminalization law, as well as in the law on political parties.
In the first case, the removal of the mandate of the deputy is foreseen for the persons who are verified by the Authority for Information on the Documents of the former State Security, AIDSSH, that they were collaborators of the notorious former Security, and in the second case, these persons are prohibited from being leaders of a political party.
But according to the calendar, and also according to the "Pamphlet" information, these initiatives are never to be reviewed. It seems like there is a secret bargain in between. Ilir Meta is now no threat to Rama and he does not play him. The moment he becomes a threat, the laws in question will most likely be reactivated. / Pamphlet
