Prime Minister Edi Rama has, for the umpteenth time, reiterated his position that the fight against corruption and justice reforms have been carried out by the government and the Socialist Party, emphasizing their role in the functioning of justice institutions, including SPAK.
During his speech at the SP Assembly in Unit No. 7 in Tirana, Rama vowed that during his government, the investigation of high-ranking officials for corruption has become possible, and he even described it as an unprecedented development in the country.
"On one side is SPAK, the special court, the judicial branch... We have made justice independent," he vowed, adding that the system has been reformed to be less vulnerable to corruption.
He also stated that the current functioning of justice is directly related to the reform undertaken by the Socialist Party .
"It is unbelievable to discuss the fact that, if today there is a justice system that acts independently, this is thanks to us," Rama declared.
According to him, Albania has never had cases of investigations of high-ranking officials before: "Albania has never had investigations of high-ranking officials or indictments."
His statements come at a time of discussions on the independence of the judiciary, while Rama continues to defend the position that changes in the system are a direct result of his government.
