The Democratic Party has requested the return of pre-election coalitions to the Electoral Code, according to the model previously applied, where parties competed with their own logos within a joint coalition.
The request was presented by the representative of the Democratic Party, Oerd Bylykbashi, during a meeting of the Electoral Reform Commission. He emphasized that the model of composite coalitions, where each political force maintains its own electoral identity, has functioned in the past and has withstood different electoral systems.
Bylykbashi has criticized the current system, calling it harmful to the functioning of political parties and democracy itself. According to him, this model undermines pluralism and hinders effective representation in parliament and government.
"This system is toxic for political parties, pluralism and democracy. It is not connected to what Albanians need and it hinders the normal functioning of political life. It is a system that can no longer be repaired," he said, calling for a debate on the necessary changes.
The issue of electoral reform remains one of the main topics of political discussion, while there is still no complete position from other parties on the DP's proposal.
