US Charge d'Affaires Nancy VanHorn is holding a meeting with President Bajram Begaj.
The reasons for this visit are not yet known, but this meeting comes a day after the government notified the President of the creation of vacancies for mayors in 6 cities in the country, including Tirana.
The letter came a day after Erion Veliaj appealed to the Constitutional Court his dismissal by government decision. An act that, according to Article 115 of the Constitution, automatically suspends the decision of the Council of Ministers, and consequently the organization of early elections in the capital.
It is expected to see the president's move, who has 48 hours to set the election date.
