While oil prices are soaring and the Transparency Board is increasing prices more than decreasing them, Edi Rama continues with his schemes.
The Prime Minister stated that the government will introduce a public company in the oil market to influence prices and limit abuses. He made the statement during the SP Assembly in unit no. 4 in Tirana.
" We will enter the oil market with a public company, to guarantee that citizens are not forced to pay more than they are entitled to. The law on reserves, the new law is in the consultation process. We had oil that was branded, to identify oil that comes legally. We tried to regulate it ," said Rama.
He added that the company aims to set reference prices according to the international market and influence the functioning of the market.
" We want the public company to reach the point of being a supplier in the market, determining the rules of the game, setting a real price based on the stock market ," declared the prime minister.
Rama acknowledged that part of the oil market remains outside the control of the state and is related to smuggling and transit.
" Because there is a quantity of oil that is off the state's radar. The other thing that happens with oil is the so-called transit oil, which enters Albania to go to countries that are on land borders with Albania and then remains in Albania illegally ," he said.
According to him, the government is collaborating with a company from the United Arab Emirates to establish stronger control over the market.
" Now, together with the public company we have created, we have created another public company together with the company that the state has in the United Arab Emirates and we will issue another colorant that is unmanipulated. This will help a lot to formalize the oil market until the end ," Rama declared.
