The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has requested the establishment of an investigative commission to control the legality of the functioning of the National Information Society Agency, as well as to assess cybersecurity and personal data protection.
The request was made known by the head of the parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, after today's meeting. Through a post on the social network "Facebook", Bardhi explained that the commission intends to analyze in detail the functioning of the AKSHI and that parliamentary control is a necessary mechanism for guaranteeing the democratic functioning of institutions and for protecting the public interest. Bardhi also called on the majority not to hinder the establishment of the investigative commission.
"Meeting of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party. Today, the Parliamentary Group, among other things, decided to request the establishment of an Investigative Commission to control the legality of the functioning of the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI), as well as to assess cybersecurity and the protection of citizens' data, including analyzing the risks to national security and Albania's obligations as a NATO member country.
"Parliamentary control is necessary to guarantee the democratic functioning of institutions and protect the public interest. As a constitutional right of the opposition, we appeal to the majority to be responsible and not to hinder the exercise of this responsibility ," said Bardhi.
