Former Socialist MP Petro Koçi has spoken about the recent internal clashes within the Socialist Party, specifically between Prime Minister Edi Rama and former Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali.
Koçi stated that he does not see the recent discussions within the Socialist Party as a real debate, while he focused more extensively on what happened with former Minister Spiropali. According to him, the former Foreign Minister, with her reaction the day before, identified several problems, but added that it is now too late.
Koçi said that she should start with a "mea culpa", since according to him, the former minister had a role in what may have happened in the SP.
"Yesterday we saw a public statement by Ms. Spiropali, who tried to identify some problems. First, I think it's too late because I think that beyond everyone's right to reflect, one should always start with a kind of mea culpa, because Spiropali doesn't have a role in everything that has been built in these years in the SP and in the way it functions. She is a politician who has made extraordinary progress in these years and therefore has deserved several high positions, but when it comes to the way the party functions, everyone has more or less a finger in what has happened. I think that a constructive approach is always needed to identify problems and then propose solutions. The right pact is also needed to avoid creating misunderstandings among SP supporters, " the former MP said in News24.
