"Crimes against humanity", Berisha: The medicines are in the hands of

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, was today at the Industrial Market in Tirana where he held meetings with citizens and business representatives.

In a strong statement, Berisha accused the government of serious abuses in the health sector, calling the system a mafia that steals from sick citizens.

He denounced the shortage of vital medicines and diagnostic equipment such as the Pet Scanner, while promising strong interventions to restore control and dignity to the public health service.

"They took Nushi and Toma, they left the medicines in their hands. We had a law, no medicine was sold in Albania if it was not used in 2 EU countries. Medicines have their own specifications, they are needed for 3-4 patients, they cost a lot. But when the company was here, it made discounts, it made money somewhere else. The money is stolen from the Ministry and the directorate. It is an ugly crime. Today, every day, they call the sick, this month you have no treatment... we have brought three cyclotrons, one in neurosurgery, 2 in oncology. Why three? In order not to be left behind because the country is very sick with diagnosis and disease, today none of them work. There is no Pet Scanner, today it has become the most necessary thing, but Albanians have to go to the private sector, pay a lot and wait in line. This is a mafia and this will end, we will put a strong hand on it", said Berisha.
