Analyst Rezart Kthupi has commented on recent developments in the Democratic Party, stating that Sali Berisha's goal is to prevent the creation of new figures within the party.
Kthupi stated that the European People's Parties remain "the only open door" for the leader of the DP in the international arena.
"The European People's Parties are the only open door for Sali Berisha. It is a group that tolerates him because legally he is the party leader ," declared Kthupi.
According to him, the obstacles created in the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party aim to block any new political alternative within the blue headquarters.
"The goal is not to allow any new sprout to start in the Democratic Party. What Berisha wants is a gathering of loyalists. In the DP, there is no intention to change the leader," he said.
Kthupi also commented on the legal aspect of the process, warning that there is a possibility that the Court may temporarily suspend the party elections until the full review of the filed lawsuits.
"The possibility is that the Court may temporarily suspend the process, as long as the case is examined on its merits. Implementation is up to the DP. Article Basha does not allow Berisha to run. The referendum in the DP aims to remove the 'Article Basha'," the analyst told "Abc News".
Kthup's statements come after the candidate excluded from the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party, Ervin Salianji, addressed a letter to the European People's Parties, expressing concerns about the blocking of the race, the disregard for the statute, and the arbitrary exclusion of candidates.
In his letter, Salianji emphasizes that democratic standards and internal pluralism are being damaged in the Democratic Party.
